Sorrento mozzarella cheese is sold in many grocery stores like; Pathmark, Stop&Shop, Shoprite, Walmart and Target. It is good to know their cheese are made with microbial rennet only.

Definition of microbial rennet, according to wikipedia include the following information; The flavor and taste of cheeses produced with microbial rennets tend towards some bitterness, especially after longer maturation periods. These so-called “microbial rennets” are suitable for vegetarians, provided no animal-based alimentation was used during the production.

Only the mozzarella and ricotta cheeses are mentioned in the email, it is not sure if Sorrento cheddar cheese, string cheeses or stick cheeses are also in this category or not. Please refer to the following lines for the company’s reply;
